i went for my mobile court visit from 28.07.2009 until 03.07.2009....my destination was Ulu Lemanak and Nanga Kesit...Ulu Lemanak can only be reach via 2hrs boat ride and nanga kesit can be reach by road...
Me being an adrenaline junkie..i love challenge and wilderness and this trip was really an eye opener for me....i love environment and i love being part and blend with it even....the journey was even more gruelling cuz of the dry seasons...at some rapid i have to jump off the boat and push the boat just to get through the rapid..but it was such a fun experience...
Actually Ulu Lemanak was'nt that remote, according to scale its a P2 area (Pedalaman 2)....my next journey will be to the place classified as P3 which it will be a 5 hrs journey viA logging road and 3 hours journey by boats...
Being a so called self proclaimed environmentalist, the destruction caused by the logging activities almost get me into tears...the plight of the people affected by it as well..most of the jungle was destroyed and trees were cut down...let alone the dangers and effect cause by it...
according to the locals...most of them collects goods from the jungle and catch fishes in the river..they dont even bother before this to register and get themselves and ID or Birth Certificate because they dont really needs helps from the government....but due to logging and other commercial farming activities their livelihood had been affected tremendously....
less jungle means less goods can be collected...rivers are so murky less fishes to catch....less food and life became a challenge and survival was the only thing in their mind...move out from the jungle was the last thing on their mind...no education no certificate and whatsoever...they have nothing...they use to roam freely in the jungle live life with less problems and no technology and whatsoever but they love it and thats what they do best....but now everything gone...i wish i can do something to help them...the least i can do is that help them get registered obtained and ID and Birth Certificate so that they can get some helps from the government...
i wish that there are NGO's out there who can help to protect out jungle...i wish to join them land become an active member...
